Angolan diplomat presents credentials to UN boss
During the ceremony held at the UN headquarters, the diplomat reaffirmed Angola's commitment to the principles of the United Nations Charter, which considers multilateralism and dialogue as the main way to achieve international peace and security, as well as strengthen international cooperation.
The ambassador reaffirmed to the Secretary-General Angola's support for the ongoing United Nations reform process under her leadership to improve the work of the UN system in accordance with the principles of the United Nations Charter.
She assured the Secretary-General of her commitment to work and share her experience during the mandate of the Secretary-General in order for the UN to achieve the objectives set out in the Charter.
On His turn, the Secretary General thanked Angola for its support for the reforms it had undertaken to make the work of the United Nations efficient.
Following the accreditation ceremony, the Secretary General held a brief meeting with Ambassador Maria de Jesus, during which António Guterres highlighted the leadership role that Angola has played in the hard task of pacifying the African continent, especially the Great Lakes region.
The Secretary General welcomed the reforms that the Angolan Government has been carrying out, under the leadership of President Joao Lourenco, in favour of the socio-economic development of the country.
