Chinese-backed firms quit Romania solar farm bid amid EU subsidy probe
May 14, 2024 18:11 CESTBeverage and snacks multinational PepsiCo Inc (NASDAQ:PEP) has invested over USD 2 million (EUR 1.87m) to put up solar panels at its sites in Romania, PepsiCo Romania said in a LinkedIn post on Thursday.
The company installed rooftop and ground-mounted solar arrays at its sites in Popesti, Dragomiresti and Covasna, expecting to generate over 1 MWh to power most of the processes of the facilities. Daniel Dragusin, PepsiCo’s East Balkans supply chain director, said in a video accompanying the post.
The companied installed capacity across all three systems is 1.7 MWp, according to a report by Bucharest-based English language media outlet Romania Insider.
Going forward, PepsiCo Romania plans to take advantage of every metre at its sites to add more solar panels, Dragusin added.
