“Robotics are set to bring another disruption in the emerging markets. General perception was that they would be here to steal jobs. That myth stands blasted. There would be new professions few years down the line and the current ones would fade away. Emerging economies like India can augment their growth story with robotics. We have had few meetings with Swiss companies and are hopeful to get into some arrangement in tech exchange,” says Chandigarh-based Vindstorm Technologies Vice President Deepak Mishra.

Switzerland has been ranked for the past seven years as the world’s most innovative country by Cornell, the World Intellectual Property Organization and the INSEAD Business School. The nation has also been selected by accounting firm KPMG as the world’s best-prepared country for long-term change — a measure highly relevant for robotics and automation pioneers who seek to shake up the status quo.

“Switzerland provides the perfect setting for establishing the robotics sector as Zurich boasts of Google’s largest campus outside California, employing nearly 2,500 engineers, including more than 250 artificial intelligence specialists, with capacity to grow the total workforce there to 5,000. Also, it was the Swiss office of Disney which carried out the computer graphics work for the movie-maker’s super-hit Frozen. The Crypto Valley community includes open source blockchain-based computing platform Ethereum, bitcoin wallet and vault Xapo, which moved its headquarters there from Silicon Valley, and the Monetas financial infrastructure platform, which relocated its head office from Vancouver to Zug,” says Swiss Business Hub India spokesperson.

Google is a founding member of Digital Switzerland, an association working to position Switzerland as an international digital hub.

The SBHI offers advisory services to Indian companies considering outbound greenfield investments in Switzerland, with the intention of establishing a direct presence in Switzerland. Their advisory services cover, economic and legal environment, provisions and limitations of different legal entities, company incorporation process, labour market and law, cost structure, tax structures.

“The SBHI has strong links to and works in close collaboration with the economic development offices of the different cantons and regions of Switzerland.
