End of life and the grieving process are not going well in our society at this time. We have to do better in supporting patients and families through this critical period.”
— Suzanne B. O'Brien RN
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON, UNITED STATES, January 18, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Doulagivers is Offering Live End of Life Doula Trainings in Seattle, Washington on April 20th, 21st and 22nd 2018.

Hospice and Oncology nurse Suzanne B. O'Brien creates End of Life Doula Program to help train both families and professionals on how to care for the dying.

9 out of 10 people say they want to be cared for at home if terminally ill. Presently, half are dying in institutions. Death is the second leading fear in the united States. At this time, we have 78 million baby boomers over the age of 65 in the U.S. 20% of them do not have their own children.
"We are in the midst of an elder care crisis," said O'Brien. Most people do not know the first thing about caring for someone who is at the end of life. It is unfair to expect them to take care of a dying loved one at home without the basic knowledge and surrounded by fear. People are forced to be in this situation every day, many times leaving families with much sorrow, guilt and regret.

O’Brien got the idea for End-of-Life Doulas during a Hospice volunteer trip to Zimbabwe, Africa, in September, 2012. Because the Hospice there has a great need and limited resources, the Hospice workers teach a neighbor how to care for a dying patient and their family through that last phase of life - like a Doula. Doula is a Greek word meaning a non-medical person trained to care for someone physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It is usually associated with the birth of a baby. “I have always drawn the analogy between new life entering this world and the phase of life leaving this world. Both require special love and preparation,” said O’Brien
There are two main End of Life Doula Trainings to help support family caregivers and The End of Life Doula Certification Training to train professional End of Life Doulas.

The End of Life Doula Certification Training is for those who wish to be Certified End of Life Doulas. Just like the birthing doula movement that is a fully recognized profession, now we have Death Doulas also known as End of Life Doulas. The Doulagivers Certification Training Course is appropriate for all areas of person-centered care. Social workers, counselors, medical professionals, non-medical home health agencies, holistic practitioners, hypnotherapists, massage therapists, reiki practitioners and even people who solely want to be an End of Life Doula take the Certification Training. "The way that healthcare is going, we need to be able to train non-medical professionals to fill in the gap of care that is unfortunately existing in every mainstream medical service. End of life requires time, but for nurses and doctors today, time is a very limited thing," said O'Brien. The End of Life Doula Certification Training covers all 3 phases of end of life care including the top ten end of life disease processes, medications, dealing with acceptance, forgiveness, unresolved issues, advance care planning, home wakes, green burials, as well as grief and bereavement techniques. and support. This is a subject that will touch each one of us at some point in our journey. Doulagivers is the new specialized area of non-medical health care. This training is for those who have a calling and desire to support and guide both patients and families through any aspect of the end of life process. Following in the footsteps of the birthing doula movement that has been a successful specialized non-medical field in the area of childbirth for decades, now is the time for us to offer the same care and support for those at end of life. Death Doulas were included in Time Magazine's list of New Cutting-Edge Jobs for 2017.

The Doulagivers ® Level 1 Family Caregiver Training allows families to regain and learn the skills of how to care for a dying loved one. This was something that was handed down generation-to-generation 100 years ago. We are bringing this skill back and it is changing the world.

The Doulagivers Live Level 1 Family Caregiver Training is always available for free/donation. You are encouraged to take advantage of this life changing knowledge.

Doulagivers Level 1 Training TESTIMONIAL:

"Doulagivers Level 1 training was a Godsend for me and my friends. I found Suzanne’s class while researching how to support a friend who was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive, terminal brain cancer. The class is offered for free and provides all the helpful information we needed to support our friend during his end of life experience. I gained so much through this course, that I ended up going back and donating money for the class! Do yourself a favor and take this course, and if you can, donate! It’s more than worth it! Thank you Doulagivers and Suzanne for making a terrible loss a little less scary and much more profound. ~ Eternally Grateful"
